Water conditions are usually low and clear with caddis, mayflies, and lesser stone flies in great numbers. Hoppers and other terrestrials abound until the frosts do them in. Late fall fishing is outstanding for big Browns and Rainbows.

95% of our fishing is done with dry flies. It seems like the older I get, the more I enjoy dry fly fishing on top. It's not that I can't catch a fish on a streamer, a wooley bugger, a bed head or a nymph, and if a client wants to use these we will. many places here you will catch more fish on top than you will on the bottom.
I have fished most of Montana's big name waters and I can tell you with all certainty that Northwest Montana has the best of uncrowded fly fishing water in Montana. This is the 'Last Best Fly Fishing in Montana'!
